You can create an account online though the Marketplace website at Once you provide an email address and some information about yourself, you'll get an email invitation to the Marketplace site and can get started!  You can also call the Marketplace or get help from your local Heartland Health Insurance Navigators at 201 N. Elson in Kirksville, MO to set up an account.

If you are enrolled in a Marketplace plan, your benefit year ends December 31st. To continue health coverage for the next year, you may renew your current health plan or choose a new health plan through the Marketplace during the Open Enrollment period.

It's highly recommended that you update your application at the Marketplace during open enrollment to renew our health coverage plan,  even if you information hasn't changed. 

The next "Open Enrollment" for healthcare coverage will begin November 1st, ending on December 15th. 


You may buy Marketplace insurance outside Open Enrollment only if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) due to a qualifying life event such as marriage, birth or adoption of a child, or loss of other health coverage.  Give Heartland Health Insurance Navigators a call to see if you qualify for an SEP.

Some consumers  have been notified by the Marketplace via mail, email or by phone reminding them that they need to provide supporting documentation to resolve any remaining issues with their application as soon as possible.


The reminder notices state that consumers will have an additional 30 days from the receipt of notice to provide information.

The Federally-facilitated Marketplace (FFM) will offer health coverage in Missouri using the Federal Exchange (FFM). The FFM will make assessments of Medicaid/CHIP eligibility and then transfer the applicant’s account to the state agency for a final eligibility determination. Missouri has expanded Medicaid coverage to low-income adults effective in 2021. To read the Missouri Supreme Court decision regarding the Medicaid program expansion in Missouri Click here


You can apply and enroll in Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) any time, there 's no certain enrollment period for these programs.  If you’re qualified, you can enroll immediately. Click here to see if you may qualify for one of these programs.



If you own or operate a small business, you can start offering coverage to your employees at any time. You can enroll in SHOP throughout the year. The deadline to enroll is always the 15th of the month for coverage to be effective the 1st of the following month.
